When the late Herbert Janssen first founded the company HERBERT JANSSEN KG over half a century ago, the young enterprise dealt mainly with the distribution and repairs of sewing machines. Based in Krefeld, Germany-called the city of "Silk and Satin"- JANSSEN established itself as a leader in supplying technical equipment and service for numerous tie manufacturers.

In 1982, JANSSEN became a limited partnership under the sole directorship of Herbert Scherberich, a highly qualified mechanical engineer.

Since then, a new sales philosophy has helped JANSSEN KG increase its business and customers considerably. In 1986, JANSSEN Necktie Machinery, Inc. was established in Elmsford, New York, making Janssen an international company.
